Hailing from Hamilton, Ontario, the free improv freak unit Fossils have unleashed about a billion limited-run releases documenting their weird journey since 2005. Built on mystery, busted electronics, internal machine feedback, treated tapes & amplified junk, Fossils paint abstract new visions on steel cave walls. The 2009 Fossils players include David Payne, Steve Smith (thousand year frog), Daniel Farr (the living stump) & featuring the saxophone stylings of Rob Michalchuk (poor little music label). Young Guns was recorded sometime 2008 at mjc hq.
Ketchup Cavern's first jazz record. Numbered edition of 119, color paste-on/screenprinted artwork, handmade sleeve. No computers used in production or design. Mastered from cassette for maximum audio fidelity.

The same day I bought a second-hand Boss Dr. Sampler I connected my guitar to it and recorded the basic material for these two 4-minute tracks. Less drone, more composed. A bit like my Huis EP I guess, that's (partly) why the title hints to that. It's Machinefabriek's more playful side.
Limited to 500 copies (381 on black vinyl, 119 on color*), packaged in a full color offset-printed glue pocket sleeve designed by Rutger.
Artist: Flatgrey / The Rita / Sick Buildings / Taskmaster Title: Vancouver
Catalog Number: KC03
Format: 2X7" $15 North America / $18 World mp3 | Reviews
A compilation of noise and experimental composition from 4 Vancouver artists: Flatgrey, The Rita, Sick Buildings and Taskmaster. This release highlights some of the key players in Vancouver's harsh noise/anti-music community. Each artist involved has one side to unleash a torrent of harsh noise/cassette collage/overloaded distortion/mechanical grinding. Mastered at 45 rpm for maximum sound quality, pressed on red vinyl in an edition of 300 copies, packaged in a b&w offset-printed sleeve featuring a photo of the parties involved at the corner of Hastings and Main.
MP3 sample is 15 seconds from each side with 1 second of silence in between.
Artist: Lasse Marhaug Title: If The Revolution Could Start Right Now
Catalog Number: KC02
Format: 1-sided 7" $6 North America / $8 World mp3 | Reviews
Lasse Marhaug has a discography as long as your arm and a list of previous collaborators that would scare the pants off us if they were all in the same room, but that wouldn't matter if he didn't drop the heavy jams. And Ketchup Cavern number 2 is the heaviest yet! This is a physical record, instead of someone twisting knobs it sounds like someone slapping you around and yelling in your ear for five minutes and five seconds. Total radness!
1-sided 7" record, limited to 248 numbered copies, b&w cover.

Debut release on newly formed Ketchup Cavern label, first vinyl release by Vancouver experimental musician Michael Piercey AKA Seagull after numerous self-released cassettes/CDRs. Performed using homemade noise generators and a gang of distortion pedals, The Conqueror Worm features 5 minutes of poorly-recorded static, roaring distortion (and some mysterious crackle added by the pressing plant). Guaranteed to confuse your neighbors.
1-sided 7" record, limited to 180 numbered copies, b&w cover.
